“Exalted documentary photography” is the definite way to describe Susanne Walström’s photography. Her pictorial language is instantly recognizable: humorous, vibrant, irreverent, documentary, and colorful photos containing lots of people and movement. Susanne tells stories with her photographs, something she also did when employed as a photographer for Sweden’s leading daily newspaper Dagens Nyheter. She worked there for four years following studies at The School of Photography at Göteborg University.

Her unexpected perspectives and new thinking in feature photography has been trendsetting. These days she primarily works commercially, and spends a lot of her working time in the US. Her clients include American Express, Nikon, H&M, Unicef, Nokia, Fuji Film, Telia, Duka, Gröna Lund, Yoplait, and Robur.

Since her student days, she shares the studio ”Taket” with a few colleagues. It’s here that Susanne, as acting chief editor, runs the photography magazine “Motiv”, launched in 2004. Many of the country’s top photographers have contributed. Susanne has also provided several books with photographs. These books include “Kalas -från dop till disco,” and “Bebisboken.”
