Sandra Freij, born 1975, has returned to Stockholm after several years in London where she worked closely with magazines like Dazed & Confused and Lula.
Sandra has a comprehensive background in photography. She holds a B.A. from the University College for the Creative Arts. She also holds an M.A. from the School of Photography in Gothenburg. Ever since her teens she has loved photography and has explored art photography and fashion photography, both editorially and commercially.
Sandra’s pictures have a cinematographical quality both as regards lighting and expression, an approach that feels thrilling viscerally. She is known for her romantic and feminine pictures that are colored by subtle sensuality and often an underlying darkness. With her extensive knowledge of imagery she is exceedingly skilled at balancing ambiguous and imaginative work with both openness and accessability.
In addition to the previously mentioned Dazed & Confused and Lula, her editorial clients also include ANOTHER magazine, Another Man, MIXTE, GQ Style, Exit, Velvet, Amica, Rodeo, Livraison, Bon and swedish Elle. Commercially, Sandra has worked with Orla Kiely and shot campaigns for Marni and Whistles among others.
