Fashion and portrait photographer Andreas Johansson’s (born 1972) first love was documentary photography. The photos he takes today are a testimony to this love. Despite streaks of the twisted and the absurd, the feeling of total authenticity is always present. They convey no impression of having been staged. Andreas Johansson directs his own thought-provoking stories—often inspired by one of his interests, the European film language. This is appreciated by both his commercial clients, like H&M, Lee, Puma, BikBok, Gant, TV 4 and Stadium, and by his editorial clients, like Plaza, King, Elle, Arena Homme +, Feld, DV, Jane and Tush.
His portraits of, among others, Dolph Lundgren, Andreas Wilson, Howlin Pelle (The Hives), Rafael Nadal, Angela Missoni, Kell Berqvist and Bryce Dallas Howard are interesting meetings where Andreas brings forth each person’s unique characteristics. He knows his craft thoroughly after studying photography at Gotland’s Folk High School and working as assistant to Eric Broms and Mikael Jansson for seven years.
