Born in Washington, D.C. and raised in the United States and Sweden, Monica has formal design training from the European Graphic Design institute in Paris. With charm and charisma, she expresses her passion for food as a chef, writer, and media figure. She acquired her culinary interest growing up with a “gourmet mother,” and is strongly influenced by American and Swedish traditions, as well as exotic destinations around the world.
This background inspired Monica and her sister to launch a popular cookbook store, coffee shop and lunch spot – The Cookbook Café – in Stockholm, year 2000. Since then, she has produced six cookbooks and established a prolific career creating and writing about food. With a unique combination of culinary and design skills, Monica works with clients on the development of both recipes and presentation, yielding delectable, mouth-watering displays.
She conceives, writes, and designs a weekly column for Dagens Industri (Sweden’s leading business newspaper), and is a regular guest on TV4’s morning news program, Nyhetsmorgon. In addition, Monica frequently styles stories for leading food magazines such as ELLE Mat & Vin, Lantliv Mat & Vin and Allas.Commercial clients include Ica, Familjen Dafgård, Findus, OLW, Felix, Ekströms, Nestlé and Carlshamn Bageri.
